St Augustine Bed and Breakfast
Carriage Way, voted
"One of the Three Best Bed and Breakfasts in Florida"
Florida Monthly - June 2001
| Carriage Way Bed & Breakfast is
located in the heart of the historic district amid unique and charming shops, museums, and
historic sites. Castillo de San Marcos, St. George Street, fine restaurants, carriage
tours, and the waterfront are 1-4 short blocks away. Any location in the historic district
is only a 5-10 minute leisurely walk. A vernacular structure with Victorian features, Carriage Way Bed and Breakfast was built between 1883 and 1885 by Edward and Rosalie Masters. All rooms are named after prior owners of the house. During the 1940's, the house was converted into an apartment building and fell into disrepair. In 1984 the structure was extensively restored to its original grandeur, fulfilling a dream of creating Carriage Way. Accommodations include eleven guest rooms located on the first and second floor of the main inn, and two rooms in our "Cottage". Guest rooms have a private bath with claw foot tub or shower and are furnished with antiques and reproductions including brass, canopy, or four poster beds. Rates range from $129.00 to $199.00 per night for two persons in one room and include breakfast, bicycles for touring, newspapers, beverages and a special dessert treat on Saturday evening. |
Our home baked full breakfast includes coffee, tea, juice, entree, sweetbread, freshly baked bread for toast, jellies, home baked fruit muffins, and fresh fruit in season. Breakfast is served from 8:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. in our Breakfast Room. The atmosphere is leisurely and casual, in keeping with the general attitude and feeling of Old St. Augustine. |
