This Unusual Victorian style residence built in 1929 features ornate plaster moldings, stained and beveled glass windows and mahogany doors. The sweeping front hall staircase, fireplace in the living room, expansive porches and balconies overlooking Lake Mascoma create an elegant and inviting retreat.
Guests are encouraged to help themselves to the cookie jar or the popcorn bowl and chase winter's chill with an afternoon refreshment by the fire in the living room. Our concert grand piano is kept in tune and guests are welcome to play for their enjoyment (and ours).
We welcome you to relax and unwind in our spacious, light-filled I and 2 room suites, all with private baths, that combine the pleasures of antiques, vintage linens and quilts with creature comforts and small touches of whimsy.
Using a Parrish print for inspiration, tranquil colors, the soft drape of antique linens at the windows, king bed.. balcony with view of lake, bath with tub/shower, cozy sitting room with couch that opens to a queen bed, small fridge, micro and sink. |

In the summer our large screened porch provides a cool and inviting oasis from which to enjoy the lake and gardens, read a book or catch a nap! Coffee, tea and juice are always available for early risers, followed by a full breakfast usually served buffet-style in our sunny dining room. Breakfast specialties include rhubarb coffee cake, apple-banana oatmeal buttermilk muffins and eggs baked with sautéed leeks and gruyere cheese.
With many great restaurants in the Upper Valley (including a fine one right next door) Mary Keane House is the perfect place for a restorative weekend of relaxation and romance.
1200 acres of adjoining field and woodlands provide many opportunities for enjoyable and scenic hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing. Meander to our secluded grassy point on the lake to catch the magic of the rising morning mists, the sparkling arc of a fish or the silent journey of a loon. Linger there or at our sandy beach and enjoy canoeing, swimming, picnicking or becoming one with the hammock! Stroll the grounds in around the Shaker Village and explore the Enfield Shaker Museum, remaining Shaker buildings and extensive Herb Gardens.
