The Big Moose Inn is located in the Mountains of the Adirondack State Park, the largest state park in the United States. Nestled quietly on the shore of West Bay on Big Moose Lake in the Central Adirondacks, life at the inn remains peaceful and serene....come and enjoy it with us. |
|
The Adirondack State Park expands over more than 6 million acres, approximately half of which are owned by the State of New York and designated as Forever Wild. There are over 2,800 natural lakes in the Park. The Big Moose Inn is situated on the shores of Big Moose Lake, one of the larger and more beautiful lakes in the Adirondacks. The Lake is approximately 5 miles long and about 1-1/2 miles at its widest, and contains more than 80 miles of shoreline.
The main building of the Inn was built in 1903 as a wilderness camp for hunters and sportsmen. Then known as Burdick's Camp, it was one of only a handful of structures on the shores of Big Moose Lake. Although the Inn has had many additions added to it over the years, it still retains its rustic small country inn charm.
There are 17 guest rooms
|
When the Inn was built in 1903, the sinks with running water in the guest rooms were considered a great luxury, however the baths were shared and located at the end of the hall. Over the past century many additions have been made to the Inn with the greatest care to keep the original feel and warmth of the building, while offering more modern amenities to our guests. |
Most of our rooms now have large windows overlooking beautiful West Bay on the Big Moose Lake, and they include private bathroom facilities. We have one room with a fireplace and Jacuzzi for that extra special occasion. For you nostalgia buffs, we still have a few rooms with a shared bath. But make your reservations for these rooms before the end of this winter season. We are planning to add private baths to these rooms in the spring.
Whether your tastes run to fine seafood or prime aged beef, we have what you are looking for. Our head chef, Michael P. Martin procures only the finest products available from Australian cold water lobster tails, Alaskan king crab, Black Angus tenderloins, strips and ribs to Long Island duckling, New Zealand lamb racks and loins and tender milk fed veal. Our extensive wine list compliments any menu selection.
The Inn kitchens have an on-premise herb garden that adds pesticide-free
daily fresh flavor to our dishes. Each day you will find a new variety of Chef's specials
as well as all of the items on our regular menu.
If you have previously enjoyed a particular special at the Inn, please ask about it when
you are making reservations. With advance notice Mike will always be happy to prepare
previous specials at your request.
The Inn hosts two wine dinners each year and they are growing by leaps and bounds. Old friends and new have been coming to our multi-course dining and tasting extravaganzas each Spring and Fall.
