Allow us to welcome you to our home at Prospect Hill, an authentic 18th century plantation in the foothills of Central Virginia near Charlottesville--a home which has fostered generations of hospitality and fine cuisine in the tradition of another lover of Epicurean delights, Thomas Jefferson, who lived just a few miles up the road at Monticello. His insistence on striving for perfection in all of life's endeavors is still an inspiration for us today, especially in our efforts to make our guests feel at home.

Thirteen rooms and suites with fireplaces and private baths with all-inclusive Modified American Plan Package rates from $295 to $495 includes wine and snacks on arrival, pre-dinner wine reception, candlelight dinners, breakfast-in-bed, and all staff gratuities (additional wine with dinner and VA sales tax not included).

Each day at Prospect Hill begins with a full country breakfast served on a tray in the guest's room or in the dining room. Afternoon tea offers an opportunity to visit with the Sheehan family and other guests.

Accommodations are in the restored outbuildings with their beamed ceilings, and squeaking floors and all with cozy working fireplaces ... or in the manor house with antique furnishings and quilts and a private verandah overlooking the countryside.

  • Thirteen rooms and suites with private baths (some jacuzzis) and fireplaces, dinners, full breakfast, and gratuity for the staff included in daily rates.
  • Substantial discounts on weekdays. Two day stays usually required on weekends.
  • Reservation deposits will be forfeited if you arrive after the date specified or
    depart before the final date of reservation. Refunds will be made only if cancelled or changed fourteen (14) days in advance of arrival date or, if less than fourteen days, if the room is reserved by another party. Booking the entire inn for weddings, conferences, etc. requires 60 days notice of cancellation.
  • Check-in anytime after 3:00 p.m
  • Check-out time is 11:00 a.m. unless other times have been arranged in advance.
  • Please note that dinner is served Sunday through Thursday at 7:00 p.m and on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m
  • Complimentary wine is offered a half hour before the dinner bell.
  • Breakfast is served between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. each morning.

Dining at Prospect Hill Plantation is an unusual culinary experience. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a complimentary refreshment while acquainting themselves with their fellow diners, our gardens, parlors, and wine cellar.
